Soundwave 2014 Set Times Coming This Week

UPDATE: Soundwave Sydney and Brisbane set times have been released!

Soundwave 2014 timetables now have confirmed release dates, with AJ Maddah telling fans to expect Brisbane and Sydney’s on Wednesday and the “rest on Friday.” SW14 punters are now officially counting sleeps till the big day and pretty soon they’ll be unsheathing those highlighters.

Maddah and his crew haven’t made the job of arranging crowd-pleasing set times easy for themselves. Last month, organisers added new headliners Richie Sambora and Orianthi to the bill, along with Filter, I Killed the Prom Queen, The Ghost Inside, The Dangerkids, and more.

Sticking to his usual MO, Maddah has been hard at work answering fan questions regarding whether Mastodon and Gojira will clash or if Dir En Grey and Darkc3ll will be placed on the same stage or whether there is a possibility that Zebrahead and Rocket From The Crypt could play back to back.

Among the surprises in store when set times are unveiled will be headliners Avenged Sevenfold‘s place on Stage 3. According to the mogul, the heavy metal giants “have to play in the dark,” a feat difficult to accomplish while fellow headliners Green Day are smashing out a three hour set.

Speaking of everyone’s favourite pop-punk heroes, their epic-length set, which Maddah said makes it “pretty much safe to assume [they] will clash with everyone,” is scheduled to be going down from 7pm to 10pm, to be preceded by a set from fellow pop-punk stalwarts Jimmy Eat World.

Meanwhile, Avenged Sevenfold’s set will be preceded by a performance from everyone’s favourite spook-master, Rob Zombie, with nu-metal icons Korn to play before him. According to the man most in the know, Stage 3 will exclusively feature punk bands until the last four hours of the day.

The ongoing skirmish between Soundwave and Megadeth will see extended set times for some bands, including Down and Trivium, with Maddah confirming earlier today that the last-minute cancellation means no replacement can be booked. Mastodon will close out the metal stage.

UPDATE 2:32pm 15/02/14: It has been announced that timetables for ALL cities, including the below for Sydney and Brisbane, will be revised and republished this Sunday. More details here.

UPDATE 7:09pm 10/02/14: AJ Maddah has shared a photo of a draft for the main stages’ set times, tweeting, “I don’t know if you can make this out, but it is a draft of main stages times!” The mogul has confirmed that all states will have the same set times.

UPDATE 8:27pm 10/02/14: AJ Maddah has now shared the draft set times for Stage 3, tweeting, “Can anyone read this? I suck at technology. It is supposed to be draft for stage 3.” The stage is set to feature, among others, Alkaline Trio, AFI, Panic At The Disco, and Bowling For Soup.

Maddah has also explained the addition of the Stage 3 Annex, tweeting, “Stage 3 is a huge stage. Stage 3 annex is a small stage. It is basically, bands playing during stage 3 change-overs.”

UPDATE 10:06pm 10/02/14: Maddah enlisted some help for the Stage 4 draft, sending the set times to Twitter follower “Steveo Freeland,” who diligently compiled them into a smart-looking spreadsheet, which was then shared by Maddah.

Furthermore, Maddah has revealed that the Main Stage drafts will likely remain the same on the day of announcement, though “other stages may get slightly altered.” Maddah confirmed to Music Feeds that the draft set times “are pretty much nailed on.”
