With under two weeks to go before The Black Dahlia Murder unleash their latest album Everblack upon us all, the death metal titans have given us even more reason to be stoked. Today, the band have fired off Goat Of Departure as a warning shot to anyone with any doubt this record was going to be brutal as fuck.
Goat Of Departure is as dark and evil as you’d expect from BDM, keeping the level of darkness at an all-time high, given what we’ve previously heard from the album. Paying homage to the evil goat and the horns which he bears, frontman Trevor Strnad explained that the song “is about how the goat came to represent Christian evil and the origins of the infamous ‘horns’ metal hand sign”.
Everblack will arrive on iTunes in Australia on Tuesday, 11th June and marks album number 6 from the outfit. It has the difficult task of following in the footsteps of 2011’s Ritual but, so far, it seems to be living up to the standards.
