The Middle East Will Be Performing A One-Off Show In Melbourne Next Year

In 2011, The Middle East announced on stage at their last Splendour In The Grass appearance that they would be breaking up for the second time. There weren’t a whole lot of reasons cited for the breakup, but a post to Facebook later in the week said that “i’m afraid if we continued any longer it would just be a moneygrab. i’d rather go hungry.” (sic)

Earlier in the year, The Middle East were announced as part of this year’s huge Vivid Live lineup in Sydney. They performed tracks both old and new at Spunk Records’ 20th Anniversary bash. The event was promoted as a one-off performance, however today the band have returned with great news for those in Melbourne: The Middle East will be coming at you on Saturday, 11th January for a one-off performance at The Forum.

The band will be accompanied by six additional performers on stage, including a string quartet, to perform some of their most memorable hits alongside a bunch of new and unreleased material too.

What this means for the future of the band, nothing can be said for that yet, but with new material being debuted at their Vivid performance and their upcoming Forum show next year, hopefully it means we’ll be getting something new from the band soon.

Pre-sale tickets will be available at 9AM on Friday, 13th September via Ticketmaster. General tickets will go on sale a few days later at 9AM on Monday, 16th September via Ticketmaster.
