There’s Now A Petition To Send Shannon Noll To Eurovision 2016

It’s now clearer than ever that the push to get former Australian Idol runner-up Shannon Noll to appear wherever people breathe air isn’t going anywhere, because a new petition is calling for him to take over from his mate Guy Sebastian to represent Australia at Eurovision 2016.

Brisbane bloke Patrick Connors, who this week launched the petition to send Nollsie to Stockholm for this year’s Eurovision Song Competition, reckons the Condobolin local is the man to take over from Sebastian, who scored Australia “an adequate fifth place” at Eurovision 2015 after cruelly defeating Noll on Australian Idol back in 2003.

“Can you honestly think of one man that embodies the Australian ideals of persistence and mateship more than Shannon Noll?,” Connors says. “A measly fifth place wouldn’t be enough for Nollsy, the man would very well lead us to 1st given his calibre.”

Judging by this recent Instagram post by Nollsie himself, he’s kinda sick of being the runner-up… (also, is that a hole in the crotch of his jeans?)

2nd place Again! Nooooooooo

Since being created two days ago, Connors’ petition to get Noll to Eurovision has seen over 100 signatures. To add your support for the cause, head to the petition on Change.org.

There was a very, very slight push to get Noll to Eurovision last year thanks to this Facebook page, but Guy Sebastian eventually took the spot. Since then, the Shannon Noll for Eurovision 2016 Facebook page has sprung up, because of course it has.

Elsewhere in the Nolliverse, fans have launched petitions to get the singer on the roster for the Groovin The Moo and Splendour In The Grass festivals, but so far Nollsie has only been named on the Ship-Wrecked! festival lineup, alongside the likes of Kingswood, Art Of Sleeping, The Delta Riggs, Thundamentals.

Eurovision organisers announced Australia’s second chance at taking out the Eurovision title in November 2015, with Eurovision 2016 set to take place in Stockholm’s Globe Arena on 10th, 12th and 14th May.
