Tour Guide: Montgomery, Laura Jean, George Maple

Today’s tour guide features national dates from some of Australian music’s most intriguing female artists, including Melbourne songstress Laura Jean, I Oh You newcomer Montgomery and Future Classic star George Maple.

Montgomery – Act 1 Tour

Gold Coast enigma Montgomery is one of the latest signees to Aussie label I Oh You which is also home to DZ Deathrays and DMA’s. She’s been making a name for herself with dazzling pop tunes that place her somewhere between Lorde and Airling. Her EP New Clear War provided many with a reason to get excited about her future prospects and her national tour is sure to justify that excitement.

Her Act 1 Tour will see her set out on a small jaunt along the east-coast playing her first live shows. She’ll be sampling songs from her debut EP as well as her latest single Not Around which dropped to plenty of appraisal at the beginning of this year. It will give early fans a chance to see her in smaller venues before the word starts to spread about how good she is. Remember Lorde started off playing some of the venues Montgomery will visit on this tour. Tickets are on sale Thursday, 5th March.

Laura Jean + Aldous Harding Australian Tour

It’s hard to deny a tour of two of the most talented female songstresses around. Melbourne artist Laura Jean released her brilliant self-titled fourth album last year cementing her as one of Australia’s great storytellers. Known for her distinctive Australian sound, she’s managed to cause a stir both here and overseas with the single from the album First Love Song. She brings plenty of experience to the table as a formidable live performer which will be complimented beautifully by rising Kiwi artist Aldous Harding who has only just begun her musical rise.

Last month Harding supported Perfume Genius on his Australian tour finding fans with her hushed tones and gentle allure. Together Jean and Harding will prove that nothing quite beats organic, raw songwriting. The tour is set to kick off in Melbourne at the beginning of April.
