Update: Winner of the triple J Hottest 100 of 2018 has been announced

Finally, it’s that time of year again. The music lover’s Christmas, or triple j‘s Hottest 100 day, has finally arrived. 2018 was an absolute doozy for music, and a record number of Hottest 100 voters turned out – 2,758,584 of you to be exact.

triple j has completed the painstaking job of tallying all these votes and compiled a list of the 100 most popular songs of the year, and now we finally get to hear them. Music Feeds is covering the whole thing right here, completely LIVE.

As those meticulously studying voting trends, like 100 Warm Tunas and The Bean Counter’s 100, have pointed out, this year’s countdown is likely to be a two-horse race with Ocean Alley’s ‘Confidence’ and Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ leading the charge. In saying that though, Ruby Fields, Amy Shark, Fisher, Wafia and Dean Lewis also all have pretty good odds of taking out the coveted top spot.

This year’s countdown shares a lot of similarities with last year’s countdown, which of course was topped by Kendrick Lamar’s ‘HUMBLE.’ Both countdowns feature 65 Aussie songs, which is just one short of the record-breaking 66. Both feature five songs that were uploaded to Unearthed in that same year and both feature eight artists who have made the Hottest 100 hat trick, placing in three consecutive countdowns.

So, crack a cold one, put your feet up and follow us as we count down every song, from 100 – 1, in triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2018!
