Violent Soho Unveil Pumping New Track ‘Like Soda’, Announce Aussie Tour Dates

Hell fuck to the yeahhhhhhhhh Violent Soho are back with a fresh cut off their forthcoming album, the follow-up to their 2013 album Hungry Ghost.

Dubbed Like Soda, Mansfields’ finest’s latest tune is a feelgood Aussie punk anthem with a big-ass chorus and summertime beer vibes up the wazoo. Odds-on hearing it up high in next year’s Hottest 100.

“There’s no resolution in the song – it’s just describing a daze we’re all in,” explains singer Luke Boerdam, as he references “empty summer afternoons in a RSL and pubs – when all the pokies are empty, beer is warm and there’s nothing but horse-race noise in the background.”

The big unveiling of their new track follows weeks of cock-teasing, after the band posted a photo of a flaming boombox with today’s date on their official Facebook page. And now, finally, we know what the cryptic message means.

Violent Soho began recording their fourth album in August, and later asked fans to help name the release. Hilarity, of course, ensued, leading to possible album titles such as Bronwyn Bishop’s Handbag, the anagram-tastic Hot Oven Silo, the philosophical Shitpants: A Memoir and the lazy but nonetheless appropriate Hungrier Ghost.

Although the dudes have yet to unveil the official name of the new disc, they have revealed that the recording process is about 50% done, with plans to head back into Brisbane’s Shed Studios with producer Bryce Moorhead in November.

And that’s not all, the dudes are also taking their new material on the road, announcing a trio of East Coast tour dates scheduled for later this month. The band will hit Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in late October.

The fellas have also been officially confirmed for next year’s Laneway and Party In The Paddock festival lineups.
