Vivid LIVE: The Cure Play 3 Classic Albums in Full

As was confirmed a few days ago, The Cure have been announced on the Vivid LIVE line up. But another surprise will be that the band are playing their first 3 albums Three Imaginary Boys (1979), Seventeen Seconds (1980), Faith (1981) in full live on May 31st with a repeated show on June 1st.

This will be their 5th visit to Australia, with an evolving line up of members past and present – dubbed The Cure “Reflections” (Band members for each album are below).

Curator Stephen Pavlovic spoke about having them on the line up “From my teenage years to the present day, The Cure have always been one of the most inspiring bands I have ever come across. To have the opportunity to include them in the line up is an honour equal to curating Vivid LIVE.”

The Cure’s Robert Smith also spoke about the chance to play at such an iconic festival “Vivid LIVE is an exceptional event, and we are very excited to be taking part. We have played a lot of memorable shows in Australia – we first performed here in 1980, and this will be our seventh trip – but it will be our first time onstage in the Sydney Opera House, and we want to do something unique to mark the occasion. Combining Cure members past and present in a live filmed interpretation of our first three albums feels to me like it should do the trick!”

The Cure will join an already impressive line up with the likes of Spiritualized, Bat for Lashes, Chris Cunningham, The Avalanches, Sonny Rollins, Yo Gabba Gabba!, WU LYF, OFWGKTA
