Watch Kanye Unleash In Melbourne Concert Rant

Kanye West‘s mid-set rants have become a staple of his Yeezus shows and something fans and devotees anticipate as much as those bedazzled Maison Martin Margiela masks. So for those who flocked to see him at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena last night, Kanye did not disappoint.

While Adelaide and Perth crowds were treated to long winded sermons about creativity and the launch of his new Yeezus sneakers, Kanye took the opportunity at his first Melbourne show to hit out at an unnamed colleague, in response to a mystery tweet.

As reported by Music Feeds‘ Gregory Moskovitch in a forthcoming review, “As a spotlight opened on a mic stand arranged beside a keyboard and sampler, West emerged, donning a floor-length trench coat and a elaborate new mask. After manipulating a rush of distorted samples, the eerie opening notes of Runaway gave way to its brooding breakbeat and ominous bass.”

“Tonight I ain’t gonna say your name and shit,” Kanye began, addressing an anonymous member of his entourage in the rant you can watch, below. “But I better see those emails in the morning apologising and shit. I know you all want to know who I’m talking about, but they know exactly who I’m talking about.”

“But you got them emails from both publicists, and you know exactly who I’m talking about,” he added. And you retweeted that bullshit and you know exactly who I’m talking about.”

“So I’m tell you tonight. We got two shows, so we better get on the phone tomorrow morning.” Right on cue, Yeezy then delivered a performance of his track Runaway with its famous phrase, “Let’s have a toast to all the douchebags.”

Last night’s concert was the first of two at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, so chances are Kanye may shed more light on the mystery beef when he takes the stage later tonight. After his Melbourne jaunt, Kanye will head to Sydney and Brisbane later in the week.
