Watch: Led Zeppelin On The Late Show With David Letterman

In one of the few TV moments to outdo Axl Rose’s first live interview in 20 years, the legendary Led Zeppelin have made a guest appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman while currently doing the rounds in support of their latest CD/DVD release Celebration Day.

Given the fact that they are all probably born in the same era, Letterman vibes a lot more naturally than usual with John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (who had already been interviewed in the past). The conversation itself would have to be one of the most musically insightful to take place on the program, with the band going into some depth about their past, as well as the potentially touchy subject of the late drummer John Bonham.

It’s not all serious by any means, however. The three showcase their dry cool UK wit, sometimes a bit too dry and cool for the audience. Worthy of note is just how clued in the band are, obviously familiar with the much more contemporary Jack Black and his comments on Led Zeppelin. This is also one of the rare moments where the band attempt to describe their sound.

The group were in New York to accept the Kennedy Centre Honors, cementing them in the highest echelons of entertainment royalty. Letterman himself was also honoured this year.
