Watch Tony Hawk Jam Out With Sydney’s Ultimate Tony Hawk Tribute Act

What started as a fun project honouring a ’90s icon has now turned into a full blown fantasy-in-real-life moment for Sydney Tony Hawk cover band, Birdman: Or The Unexpected Virtue Of A Tony Hawk Cover Band.

While that name marinates in your brain for a bit, the Sydney group are most likely still coming down of the high that was performing in California in the presence (and on stage) with the man himself.

Invited by Hawk himself to fly out to San Diego to open up a celebration of 20 years of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, the Birdman crew ditched wintry Sydney for the warmer climate of the US west coast, finding themselves opening for Bad Religion at the gig and sharing the stage with Hawk.

Together, they covered The Adolescents’ ‘Amoeba’ – the result is a pretty sick. Check it out below.

Hawk himself seemed pretty stoked to have the Australians out on the other side of the globe for the gig, which was also a fundraiser for the Tony Hawk Foundation. The benefit raised awareness and funds for under-privileged youth in lower socio-economic areas by building skate parks in their communities and engaging with them in a number of programs.
