Wavves Will Tour Australia During Summer Festival Season

Wavves have got a brand new album called V due to make landfall next month, and they’re using it as the perfect excuse to take a summer trip to Australia.

In a freshly squeezed interview with triple j, the California surf rockers revealed plans to tour the album Down Under, with a run of live shows scheduled to take place bang on festival season o’clock.

“I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but we are coming to Australia. I know that,” teased main man Nathan Williams. “I’m supposed to leave the States the day after Christmas.”

By our calculations, that puts them in the running for any number of New Years festival lineups, with Falls, Southbound, Victoria’s Beyond The Valley, NSW’s Lost Paradise, and Field Day all happening around that time.

Whether Wavves might feature as a late addition to any of those bonza bills – or as part of something else that we haven’t even heard about yet – only time will tell.

The band, who were last in Australia for Splendour In The Grass 2013, released the new disc’s flagship single, Way Too Much, under the strangest of circumstances. Williams leaked the song online amidst a heated Twitter feud with his major label, Warner Bros.

“I think it’s sorted out. I don’t really talk with them,” the frontman told the j’s about the very public spat.

“I don’t talk with them at all, actually. My manager and PR agent [do]… I just don’t think I have a lot of fans over there.”

Well we’re sure his fans here in Aus will more than compensate. We’ll bring you more news about Wavves’ upcoming tour as it develops. In the meantime, keep an ear out for their brand new album, V, which drops on October 2nd.
