Will.i.am Admits Stealing Beat For New Chris Brown Track, Claims It Was A Mistake

Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am has admitted that his new track with Chris Brown, Let’s Go, rips off the beat of lesser-known artists Arty & Mat Zo‘s house track Rebound, but claims that the whole thing is one big misunderstanding.

Russian house producer and DJ Arty made the claim earlier this month, according to TMZ, but the ever-charming Chris Brown said that was a load of baloney, tweeting, “I don’t even know who mat zo Or arty is. I don’t listen to that shit…” He has since deleted the tweet.

But now will.i.am is saying that the beat DOES come from Rebound but it was all an honest mistake, telling KIIS FM that he was so enamoured by the track that he wrote the song to their instrumental and assumed the licensing issues had been taken care of:

I’m a fan of Arty. I think he’s great and the world needs to know about how talented those guys are. It’s sad that it’s turned into a fiasco but hopefully it’s resolved because I’m a fan of those guys to the point where I wrote to their instrumental.

Will.i.am said that the licensing issues were now being taken care of, but has so far given no indication as to whether Chris Brown would ever stop behaving like a giant douchenozzle.
