The Wombats Say They Are “Definitely” Playing Splendour In The Grass 2018

UPDATE: Here’s Our First BIG Hint At Who Could Be Playing Splendour In The Grass 2018

ORIGINAL STORY: English rockers The Wombats have stopped all the teasing and declared they are “definitely” playing at Splendour In The Grass this year.

During three simultaneous live-stream chats with fans on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook today, the group backed up the hints they gave Music Feeds late last year by revealing they’re set to return down under “very, very soon”, specifically for Splendour.

“If anyone’s listening from Australia, we’re playing Splendour In The Grass this summer,” drummer Dan Haggis told fans. “Our manager just said we can tell ‘yah.”

Speaking a little more hesitantly, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen said, “We are coming to Australia… I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say this…,” before checking with their manager and backing up Haggis by saying, “We are definitely playing Splendour In The Grass.”

Speaking to Music Feeds contributor Sally McMullen in November, frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy said the band were booked for “a very special festival” down under.

The Wombats last toured Australia around Groovin The Moo in 2017, but have previously performed at Splendour In The Grass in 2014 and 2008.

The band released their new album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life today. Watch their live-streamed chat with fans, below.

Splendour In The Grass will return to North Byron Parklands in July, and the full lineup is expected to be announced in March. Catch all the dates here.
