Clubfeet – Everything You Wanted (Live At Music Feeds Studio)

Clubfeet’s current single Everything You Wanted is the second single taken from their recently released album Heirs & Graces. Although the aspiring mid-tempo dance track tells of exotic adventure on the surface, its true meaning is closer to home. Bandmates Sebastian Cohen (vocals) and Yves Roberts (bass/synths) penned the song about a small South African mining town called Kimberley, where the two friends grew up. As Cohen explains, he wrote the verses about being young and longing for adventures outside the borders of his small town:

“I wrote it just as a memoir of that time. I think I was feeling that way, in that moment and I associated that feeling with being young and with you life in front of you. Just being lost in that moment not really caring about where you were going and what could happen… So the verse was about the past and the nostalgia of what could have been… and then separately Yves wrote the chorus.

Roberts adds, “The verse had this kind of melancholy so I wanted to write this chorus that was uplifting… So it’s quite rousing in that regard and its quite rare for us to have a song like that.”
