Deaf Wish – ‘On’

This month Melbourne band Deaf Wish released their first record Pain via US label Sub Pop. They’re only the third Australian band to release a record through the iconic label which has in the past dropped LPs by Foals, No Doubt, Nirvana and Beach House.

On has been plucked from Pain and given the video treatment in the most weird and wonderful way possible.

It all centers around a trippy, distorted news broadcast and a particularly ’80s-looking lady who’s entranced by said broadcast. We won’t give the ending away here but we will tell you there’s a knife, plenty of colour and very wide eyes.

The video was directed by Vincenzi Vandella who described it as, “Rainbows, Snakes, Chrome, Champagne. A live broadcast from the Deaf Wish.” That pretty much nails it in a few words.
