Interview: Ben Howard ‘Keeping It Real’, SITG 2012

Ben Howard is not a name that rolls off your tongue like John Martyn and he doesn’t have the 40-year career to fall back on, nor the 21 studio albums. What he does have is that ‘Martyn’ magic touch on the guitar and an accomplished set of vocal chords that belt out folkie songs to be remembered for years to come. With an adoring fanbase that has mostly come through word of mouth and, weirdly, the international surfing community, the English singer-songwriter has fallen relatively below the radar in wider circles until now. This being one of only a handful of interviews he’s done, Ben chats to Music Feeds senior journalist Patrick Abboud ahead of his show at Splendour in the Grass.
