Interview: Flogging Molly – Soundwave 2013

Flogging Molly, like many bands at Sydney Soundwave, were left scourging for instruments when trucks carrying equipment for Stage 2 acts went AWOL. Yet being the blue-collar workman type band they are, Flogging Molly made sure the show went on.

With nothing but fiddles, a button box, two borrowed acoustic guitars and four chairs, the Celtic punk rock band fronted the throng of metal fans and rocked the house. As frontman Dave King explained the improvisational acoustic set was ‘one of the greatest experiences’ of his life.

The classy King, with red wine in hand, took the time to talk to Music Feeds about the kindness of Metallica, what punk rock means to Flogging Molly, touring non-stop since the 90s and keeping the memories of lost loved ones alive by singing about them every night.
