Interview: Mosman Alder On Life As A Six-Piece Band

Jackson Muir and Katarzyna Wiktorski of Brisbane band Mosman Alder sat down with Music Feeds prior to a performance in Sydney recently, to describe what it’s like to write, record and perform their typically genre-spanning music as a six-piece band.

Mosman Alder released their debut album Humdrum Star in September, after much internal debate and negotiation over which songs from a pool of roughly 45 tracks would be included on their debut full-length release. “It took a bit to negotiate where to make room… a lot of communicating,” Jackson revealed.

Once the band had decided on the album’s tracklisting, they spent about a month recording in the studio. That’s where the size of the band really came in handy. “The good thing about having six people is it can sound huge,” Jackson told us.

Mosman Alder will play Falls Festival 2014/2015.
