Interview: Sam Buckingham – Peats Ridge 2012

The charming Sam Buckingham was one of over 200 acts that helped bring 2012 to a rocking close at Peats Ridge. With Buckingham’s latest EP Fragile Heart having been released in October 2012, the Sydney songstress mesmerised the Chai Temple crowd with her heartfelt tunes.

With a personal and unguarded style of songwriting, Buckingham spoke about the emotional attachment – or in some cases detachment – she experiences while playing live. The quirky singer/songwriter also touches on embellishing real events for the sake of artistic expression.

Buckingham also gives an insight into how daunting a task it can be to bare your soul before a live audience, discovering the meaning of her own songs while performing them, the expectations of embodying the character of her songs, and the release of her debut album – expected sometime in 2013.
