The Presidents Of The United States Of America (PUSA) recently toured Australia, revisiting their multiplatinum ’95 debut album in its entirety. Standing the test of time, PUSA’s debut contains singles Kitty, Lump, Peaches and Dune Buggy, with each track outlasting its initial novelty.
While in town PUSA stopped into Music Feeds Studio to lay down live acoustic versions of Feather Pluckn & Jennifer’s Jacket and shoot the shit about the band’s first album. In Part 1, original members Chris Ballew & Jason Finn spoke of how the 90’s Seattle grunge scene shaped PUSA. Part 2 saw the band tackle the origins of track Stranger and hit single Peaches.
Part 3 sees the band explain the reason for their subject matter and why they’ve chosen not to address some of the rougher issues in life. Though they had dappled, the band never wanted that to be their primary narrative voice. “We’re proving a particular service” they explain.
Presidents of the United States of America
- Why the band chooses not to address the tough life issues
- Rehearsing the great hits such as Lump being muscle memory and organic
- Forgot to perform Kitty at the reunion show, they still don’t care
