South African-born Aussie YouTube star turned pop musician, Troye Sivan, sat down with Music Feeds presenter Luke to chat about his whirlwind journey through the music world.
Moving from singing lessons at the age of eight to performing as a boy soprano at the age of 12, Sivan moved into the YouTube vlog-o-sphere before his original music was discovered by EMI Records. Since then, he’s become hooked on writing new material.
“Chasing that feeling of ‘Yes we just wrote an awesome song’ is something I think I’m going to do forever,” Sivan says. “Songwriting has become my favourite thing in the whole world to do.”
Sivan’s fourth EP, Wild, is now out in the, um, wild, packing six new tracks and collaborations with New Zealand duo Broods and Australia’s own Tkay Maidza.
In his review of the EP, Music Feeds’ Mitch Feltscheer calls the record “a confident, utterly impressive second release from a voracious new talent which never takes the easy, expected route, delving into atmospheric indie pop and dancier, woozy electro with surprisingly deft moves”.
