Interview: Vance Joy – Different Colours And Flavours

Vance Joy is a name that may only ring familiar to his dedicated Melbourne followers but as the singer/songwriter gears up to release his latest EP, God Loves You When Your Dancing, that is certainly about to change. Fresh from a support slot sting with Iceland giants Of Monsters And Men, Vance is straight back to it, supporting Julia Stone for a run of national tour dates.

Popping into Music Feeds Studio the same day he released the video effort for the recent single From Afar, Vance Joy spoke about the clip and his feelings towards the final product. For those who have seen the video, it will come as no surprise to hear how happy Joy is about it, and he gave us a bit of a run down of how it all came together.

Subject matter is always a hot topic for confessional singer/songwriters and, as Joy explains, most of his songs come from personal experience, with a little bit of outside influence. From Afar delves into the world of unrequited love, but it seems the short but sweet EP will span an array of deeply personal topics.

Keep those eyes peeled for more things to come from the world of Vance Joy as he very quickly comes into his own.
