We caught up with Vance Joy on the eve of the unveiling of his highly anticipated debut album Dream Your Life Away to try and get a little insight into how he’s feeling, given the unique trajectory his career has been on. From releasing his breakout hit Riptide to now gearing up to release an album world-wide, it’s definitely been an exciting few years for the Melbourne singer-songwriter.
“The blueprint of my life over the last two years is all traceable back to putting that song online,” said Joy of his Hottest 100-topping hit. “So putting an album out after the success of that, I guess is something not many people would face after just an EP.”
Recently announced for the Falls and Southbound Festival lineups, Vance Joy will soon be embarking on a run of US and UK dates to bring to the album to his growing international fan base, before heading back home for a string of of national tour dates in March next year.
“I just think I’m lucky to have people wanting to hear my songs overseas,” he said. “To be on this wave is good and I want to ride that wave and kind of get off on the shore hopefully.”
