Jack River shimmers in her new music video, a clip that accompanies the equally sparkling new single ‘Fools Gold’.
Alternating between grainy realism and hyper-surreal scenes, the video, directed by Matt Sav, plays on the song’s overall theme – the disappointment in finding out things are not what they once seemed.
“I was alone in New York, chasing shiny things. The verses were spinning around my head,” says Jack River on writing the song. “I was annoyed at myself for falling for the same things over again without them giving back. But I also knew how human it was to feel like that, and how I’d probably come up against this feeling again and again. I wanted to write a song for that emotion – the relentless humanity in thinking something is gold when it just isn’t.”
‘Fool’s Gold’ follows Jack River’s debut EP Highway Songs No. 2. This Friday, June 30th, Jack River will launch the Electric Lady series, an “all girl electric show” that’s set to hit Melbourne and Sydney across June and July. The debut Electric Lady shows will feature the likes of Alex Lahey, Ali Barter, Bec Sandridge and Gretta Ray, as well as Bodytype, RACKETT and Jack River.
