LDRU – ‘Next To You’

Despite the huge success that has beset LDRU off the back of teaming up with Yahtzel and creating their Carmada project over the last few years, getting back to his solo work has proved a masterstroke – with the young producer having a breakout 2016 on the back of his single Keeping Score and latest banger Next To You.

The clip for Next To You has also just been released. Directed by Chester Buchanan – who has also worked with Cosmo’s Midnight and Basenji, the clip follows the story of a girl who brings her banana boyfriend to a dinner party to meet her friends. All is not as it seems though, when her friends are none-too-impressed and conspire against the banana.

“To me, the song is about romantic adversity,” said Buchanan in a statement. “Capturing the passion was important, but as a personal rule I can never delve into a love story without adding a peculiar or unnatural hint to it. The well-worn ‘elephant in the room’ trope is warped in this music video, which takes form as a distorted, sexy love story with a fruity yet malicious twist.”

LDRU will kick off his national headline tour shortly, which will wrap up at the back end up July with his return to Splendour In The Grass. More ticketing information here.
