Explaining the inspiration and origin for both the song and video, L-FRESH says they “highlight a journey of becoming.” Dealing with “facing the darkest parts of yourself” and “coming to terms with them” L-FRESH described the ultimate message of the song as being about how we can find our strength through adversity.
“It’s the journey we all experience in life. We go through challenges, life tests us in many ways, and we take on those challenges in the process of realising our dreams, so we can become who we’ve always wanted to be,” the rapper said.
Telling the story of a young Sikh warrior who wields a sword as she learns to become “the best version of herself”, the clip sees lead actor Sukhdeep Kaur squaring off against a shadowy and mysterious figure. Director Alex Weltlinger (360’s Boys Like You) enlisting Sydney based martial arts group AKAAL Fauj for the fight sequences, the result is top notch.
With his second album set for imminent release and touring with Urthboy through May and June, expect more big moves from L-FRESH soon.
