The Preatures – ‘I Know A Girl’

The Preatures have just unveiled the video for their new song I Know A Girl, showing the band playing around in their Surry Hills studio. Directed by longtime friend of the band and lead singer of Ratcat, Simon Day, it’s a candid slice of grunge filmmaking, capturing the playful side of the band.

“We had a bunch of camcorder footage of us ‘working’ in the studio and then Simon shot the extra scenes with us. We wanted it to feel like a series of photographs,” says vocalist Izzi Manfredi.

Drawing on some very strong Dire Straits and Robert Palmer ’80s pop/rock vibes, the track is about “girls in relationships and how they talk to each other” says Manfredi. Featuring cameo’s by model Alys Hale and artist Kitty Callahan – both of which are mentioned in the song’s lyrics – the clip is essentially a massive love-in.

“It was a huge relief when Alys and Kitty agreed to be in the clip too. They inspired the song so it was only natural they be part of it. Sure, we had to pay them a lot of money to pretend to be our friends. But they’re both great actors and I expect they’ll go far after this. Home and Away look out!” says Manfredi.
