Alt-rock gods the Pixies have been releasing music videos non-stop, riding the wave of momentum that’s surrounded the band since the unveiling of their latest release, EP-2. Much has been written of Greens and Blues, after frontman Black Francis revealed that the song was his attempt at crafting another Gigantic, a classic cut from the band’s seminal 1988 album Surfer Rosa.
“We had done Gigantic as the closer for many years at our reunion shows and it worked really well. But I could see that we were going to grow weary of that and I felt like we basically needed a better Gigantic. It was my attempt to come up with another song that would – musically, emotionally and psychologically – sit in the same place that Gigantic has sat,” said Black Francis.
As always, the accompanying music video is a quintessentially Pixies-esque affair, telling the story of the last man on Earth (played by Mel Rodriguez of Panic Room fame) as he walks around bearing a can of spray paint and generally trying to figure out what to do with his time.
