Rising Aussie hip-hop star Remi has unveiled the powerful new music video for his latest single, Ode To Ignorance, off his critically lauded album, Raw X Infinity.
The bare-bones clip, directed by Melbourne film maker Jam Nawaz, features the Australian Music Prize winning artist delivering his poignant lyrics in front of a white background while smearing red paint (blood?) all over himself.
“This track is about mine and my family’s personal experience growing up and living mixed race in Australia,” the 23-year-old rapper explains. “It’s important for people to know that this is not targeted at any one person or any one race, it’s directed at ignorance.”
“My hope is that it raises some awareness and starts/continues meaningful conversation about the racial climate in this country and what we can do to bring better equality.”
The video also coincides with the release of a world-wide Deluxe Edition of Raw X Infinity, which includes 3 bonus tracks and 12 instrumentals. Remi will be donating $3 from every copy sold in Australia over the next month to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
