Ohio indie articulators The National have unveiled their new music video for I Need My Girl, directed by visual artist Sophia Peer, who previously worked with the group on their videos for Graceless and Sea of Love. I Need My Girl is the latest single to be taken from their universally acclaimed sixth studio album, Trouble Will Find Me, and follows the band’s recent trip to Australia, during which they graced the Sydney Opera House forecourt with two incredible performances.
Music Feeds recently caught up with National bassist Scott Devendorf to chat about the band’s Australian tour and their new album. Scott told us that the band’s 2005 album, Alligator, was where he felt they hit their stride, saying:
“The way we wrote it and the way we were touring at the time meant part of it came out of touring and part of it came out of being in the studio together. And then after that, the follow-up, Boxer, which I love very much, but it was a very hard album to make because we did it very differently.”
According to guitarist Aaron Dessner, the band’s next album will be a simpler affair than Trouble Will Find Me, saying the new album will be “a more louder, more live record that is less produced and more, just like, raw and shredding.”
