The White Stripes – ‘City Lights’

Jack White has just recently release his career-spanning album Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 – an LP that among many other songs includes a previously unreleased White Stripes track called City Lights.

Now, White and Third Man Records have shared a Michel Gondry-directed video clip for the song — one which Gondry himself gifted White with recently.

The premise for the video is simple enough, but in true Gondry style stems from an odd if rarely explored concept. A figure of a man stands inside a steamy shower, and draws increasingly complex images on the glass wall of the shower.

The clip is the fifth video that Gondry has created for The White Stripes, and the track itself, which was originally written to be included on the band’s 2005 record Get Me Behind Satan, represents the first release from the band since 2008.
