Rising NSW duo Willow Beats kindly stopped by Music Feeds Studio recently to to treat our audience to some fantastic tunes, including their latest single Merewif, which, after clearing up exactly how it’s pronounced, they informed us means “water maiden.”
On the mystical track, Kalyani Mumtaz provided Willow Beats’ gorgeous, honeyed vocals and Narayana Johnson helmed the soundbed of slick electronica that allows Mumtaz’s vocals to shine.
Having honed their chops in venues across Australia and spots at international festivals like Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival, the band said the are currently working on their upcoming EP Water. “It’s an eclectic mix of songs, definitely, but they follow a similar train of thought,” they explain. “It’s all kind of mystical, fairytale type stuff.”
