The Word Alive have unleashed a cinematic AF music video to match their monstrous new alternative anthem ‘Why Am I Like This?’
The stunningly-shot clip frames the Phoenix heavy rock heroes’ intense performances amid a backdrop of shadows, smoke and neon lighting, letting the raw, visceral feels of this emotionally charged banger take centre stage.
Frontman Telle Smith explains that ‘Why Am I Like Is?’ is an incredibly personal song, which he wrote about “pursuing something that more than likely you know you shouldn’t or that might not be the healthiest choice for you”.
“The last two years I experienced making choices that took me further away from who I wanted to be, and I was living in the moment with no regard for how it would effect me or someone else,” he says.
“It’s about finding that person who is kind of the devil on your shoulder, and you want them to tell you what you’re doing is ok so you can rationalise it and justify it.”
The huge tune has been sliced off The Word Alive’s forthcoming fifth studio album, Violent Noise, which is due out this Friday, 4th May.
Give it a gander above, and let’s hope the trio come down to play it live here in Australia very soon!
