American singer/songwriter and performer Amanda Palmer has announced her Australian tour dates for next February. She’d already revealed her plans to tour Down Under with her Grand Theft Orchestra when she spoke to triple j at the beginning of the month, but now we have some solid dates, which you can check out below.
Palmer is no stranger to our shores. Her new fan-funded album Theatre Is Evil has ties with us, being recorded in Melbourne, while the music video for latest single Want It Back was also filmed in Melbourne’s Brunswick Street. Furthermore, Palmer has revealed that new B-Side From St. Kilda to Fitzroy was recorded with the help of none other than Paul Kelly.
Palmer recently caused a stir when the offer to have fans play as a part of her Grand Theft Orchestra in return for beers, hugs, and the chance to perform on stage with Palmer didn’t go down so well in the eyes of certain musical peers, namely, Steve Albini. He has since apologised for the criticism, while Palmer agreed that a monetary reward would be a better way to repay the fans. It’s not known whether fans will be allowed to join her for these dates in Australia.
