Childish Gambino Drops New Mixtape

Written by Mike Hohnen on July 5, 2012

Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, has today released his latest mixtape, titled Royalty. The material is the latest in a slew of releases from the rapper/actor/writer, who is gaining a strong reputation very quickly for his tight flow and unparalleled lyrical prowess.

Following his full-length album Camp, his remix of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep and a cheeky little EP after that, the mixtape has had fans searching everywhere in a mad frenzy, hoping to find a leaked copy of the new Gambino tracks. The self-described rap stepfather – hate him but you will respect him – even teased fans by exposing a URL directing to a page that just read ‘I Am Donald’, which now has a link to download the whole mixtape for free.

Very recently, the show on which he acts, Community, has become a smash hit in Australia. Once you’re hooked on that show, it’s only a matter of time before you discover Troy Barnes aka Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover’s music, which he describes as his “side chick, but now we’re moving in together.”

He will be performing at the Austin City Limits Festival in the States as well as Lollapalooza, which is a really good indication he will be in town for Big Day Out next year. I’ll bet my pet dog on it. Take a look at his Adele remix below.
