Crowd Turns On Guttermouth Frontman After He Punches Woman Onstage

Reports have surfaced online of an incident involving Guttermouth frontman Mark Adkins at a Colorado show last week, in which the singer was attacked by the audience at Fort Collins venue Hodi’s Half Note after an altercation ensued between himself and a female crowd member.

According to one fan report posted to punk blog Jaded Punk, Adkins was visibly drunk and started the show by repeatedly insulting the audience. YouTube user xallheartx, who uploaded a video of the incident, said that Adkins responded unfavourably to a particular crowd member after one song.

“After they played a song a guy up front said something that he didn’t like so he hit him a few times with the mic,” explained xallheartx. Security reportedly then ejected the punter. After a second attempt at starting the show and some more abuse levelled at the audience, things turned worse.

A female fan, apparently displeased with having her punk rock credentials insulted, rushed the stage swinging punches at Adkins, who promptly responded in kind. A short altercation ensued between the two before security pulled them apart and Adkins collapsed into the crowd.

The crowd then allegedly began to beat up on Adkins before security once again intervened, shutting down the gig and informing the crowd that “police are on the way.” Though in video footage one can only see a commotion at the front of the stage, followed by people booing.

According to one YouTube commenter, Adkins “gleefully fell into the pit” while the crowd “cheered the band on near the end.”

The band was reportedly originally set to play larger venue The Aggie Theatre before being “bumped” to Hodi’s Half Note when The Aggie Theatre booked rapper Tech N9ne, who ironically experienced no incident at his Juggalo-filled show.

Guttermouth famously upset Australian fans back in August, after a disastrous show at the Ferntree Gully Hotel. Adkins attributed his shambolic performance, during which he was “slurring words, missing lines, [and] falling over,” to cold medication given to him by a fan.
