Guttermouth Announce “Less Drunk” Tour Following “Really Shit” Aussie Shows

Written by Tom Williams on February 5, 2015

Californian punk band Guttermouth have announced their return to Australia, with a set of headline dates lined up for April. The shows will supposedly be “less drunk and more coherent” than the band’s largely controversial 2013 tour, which was supposed to be their last ever Australian visit.

This time round the punk rockers will be taking on 11 venues in various Australian cities like Adelaide, Collingwood, Frankston and Perth – a particular difficult schedule to organise if you ask the aptly named tour promoter, The Drunk Promoter, who wrote on Facebook, “try booking a fucking tour when the band are not allowed in 80% of the venues.”

Guttermouth’s last Australian tour was supposed to be their final jaunt down under, but according to a press release, the group now want to redeem themselves after putting on “some really shit inebriated performances to mostly disappointed fans”. See photos from one of those gigs in the gallery below.

At the time, frontman Mark Adkins later confessed that his poor form was on account of a mysterious medication prescribed by a member of the audience. Still, the chaos in 2013 wasn’t only restricted to Australian shows.

Remarkably, according to the press statement, since then Adkins has lived “broke and hopeless” on the streets of Tijuana and was even bailed out of a Mexican jail by Guttermouth drummer Alex Flamsteed, who he managed to call by borrowing “a few pesos off a corrupt cop”.

Apparently now Adkins has his “shit together” and he and his band are ready to return to Australia with their nine-album discography, to reinforce their status as one of the most offensive punk acts around. The band have also suggested they might be releasing new material exclusive to the tour.

Guttermouth’s 18+ 2015 Australian tour will begin in Adelaide on Thursday, 2nd April, and finish up in Perth on Saturday, 25th April. Tour details are available to view below.

Update 12/03/15: Guttermouth have added three more shows to their Australian tour schedule, announced local supports and are also running a competition where you can have the Californian punks over for a good old fashion Aussie BBQ, sure to be an interesting get-together.

All you have to do to enter is send an email with your ticket proof of purchase, to [email protected] and in 100 words or less, tell Guttermouth why having a BBQ at your house would be the most rad choice.
