Deadmau5 Makes Young Fan “The Most Stoked Kid On The Planet”

In a story that’s in contention for the sweetest thing ever, an eight-year-old Calgary resident and Deadmau5 uber-fan named Darius pledged back in October to “draw a Deadmau5 head everyday” until he met the man in the mouse helmet himself, sharing his drawings via a Twitter account.

“I am 8 years old. I think Deadmau5 is the best ever. I will draw a Deadmau5 head everyday till I meet him on December 28th in Edmonton, I hope. Dad types for me,” reads Darius’ Twitter bio, which sits atop an extensive string of creative hand-drawn pictures of Deadmau5′ iconic helmet.

Designs include Sleepy Santa, Shrek, a helmet made entirely out of Skittles candy, Happymau5, and the producer’s favourite, Professor Meowingtons, which Darius had framed for his hero. Darius’ hard work and persistence paid dividends when he met the Joel Zimmerman on 28th December.

“Darius is possibly the most stoked kid on the planet,” announced Zimmerman via his own Twitter account. Things then got creative, with the producer tweeting a picture of the young one working on another mouse helmet drawing, with a missive attached reading, “Doing a collab with Darius.”

“Spent the day with the lil dude and his kinda cool dad,” Zimmerman later added. Darius was given the full VIP treatment, including wearing the famous mouse head, at the Kocheda Winter Music Festival at the Edmonton Expo Centre, which Deadmau5 headlined alongside 2 Chainz and Nervo.

Zimmerman used the experience to bestow some sage advice unto his followers, tweeting “[Darius], mission accomplished! All your hard work paid off, and you met your goal! Life lesson to everyone, Stick to your plan!” with a happy Darius later thanking his followers for their support.
