Fair Trading are currently making enquiries with the Supafest promoters, Paperchase Touring And Entertainment, concerning the promotion of Missy Elliot on the lineup just hours before the singer revealed that she was never actually contracted to play.
A Fair Trading Spokesperson told Music Feeds:
“Fair Trading is currently making enquiries with the festival [Supafest] promoters.
Fair Trading has an expectation that while the circumstances may not have been foreseen, any significant change to the performance lineup should quickly be reflected in any advertising and promotion.
Should ticket holders who seek a refund be unsuccessful, they are encouraged to lodge a complaint at http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au”.
The Supafest promoters told Music Feeds earlier today that they would issue refunds. However, Ticketek said they have been informed to only issue refunds individually at the discretion of the promoters.
If Fair Trading does investigate the situation, they may be able to work with Ticketek to ensure ticket holders are paid out in full similar to what happened with the Heatwave Festival in January. More information tomorrow.
