The biggest event on Newcastle’s music calendar, This That festival, is back for its third romp in 2017, and it’s just dropped a lineup that will make your nipples more erect than the Queens Wharf Tower.
This year’s event will see Novocastrians treated to performances from the likes of Canada’s Zeds Dead, plus local acts like Alison Wonderland, Tash Sultana, The Presets (not to be confused with The Preatures — who are also on the lineup!), Thundamentals, Carmada, Motez, Paces, Elk Road and coal ship-loads more.
This year’s one-day rager will go down at the new location of Wickham Park on Saturday, 4th November, instead of its old locale on the Newy foreshore.
The shift in location comes down to the fest having to make way for the V8 supercars, but it’s also a win-win for punters, spelling optimum transportation ease thanks to the new site being right next door to the Newcastle interchange = leave the car at home.
The classy beats will also mix with classy eats with This That’s signature food trucks boasting almost every cuisine imaginable including Japanese street food ‘Fresh from the Yatai’, plus “curated cocktails, small batch breweries and whimsical wineries”.
And of course it wouldn’t be This That without The Other, described as the festival’s “ultimate uber chill zone”, which will this year feature the addition of a bonafide ‘Imaginarium’. Described as “part dance party, part art gallery, part cinema”, it will combine live instrumentation with audio-visual performance and production.
Both of This That’s previous instalments have sold out, and this year’s goes on sale soon.
