Gotye Hits Number 1 In The United States

Written by John Ritchie on April 19, 2012

Gotye is the first Australian musician to top the US Billboard charts in over a decade. His hit track Somebody That I Used to Know rocketed back up the charts to number 1 overnight on the back of his Saturday Night Live performance and the song being featured on Glee.

Wally De Backer, aka Gotye, first toured Australia’s pubs and clubs as the drummer for Melbourne band, The Basics. He has released 3 solo albums under the name Gotye, however Making Mirrors is the first album to reach international success. It may be a while before we see him performing with The Basics again.

Gotye and Kimbra are currently on a massive world tour, which will see them play sold-out shows across the United States and Europe.
