In Hearts Wake’s Reaction To Their Sydney Storm CD Drama Is All Class

The impact of the freak storm cell that laid waste to parts of New South Wales last week has been felt across the board, causing transport chaos, destroying property and even claiming a handful of lives.

Byron Bay metalcore act In Hearts Wake weren’t immune, and the warehouse where physical copies of their new Skydancer LP were being stored got absolutely smashed.

As a result, the stock was unable to be shipped to record stores across the country in time for its scheduled release this Friday, May 1st. But the band haven’t taken the wrath of the #sydneystorm lying down.

Instead, the foursome have hatched a plan to visit record stores in all major cities affected by the CD shipment delay this coming weekend, to hang out with fans and sign copies of the new disc for anyone who makes the effort to drop by.

“It’s moments like these that we must surrender to what is, and do our best to make the most out of an unfortunate situation,” the band posted on their official Facebook page. “But seriously, what better way to admit defeat than for Skydancer to bow down to the power of Father Sky!”

They continued: “Both (previous LP) Earthwalker and Skydancer focus heavily on our relationship with nature and the detrimental effect humans have on the Earth. If we don’t unite to protect our only home, these kind of events will only continue to happen more frequently. We hope everyone in Sydney affected by the storms is safe and sound.”

In Hearts Wake’s packed schedule for the weekend will see them visit Brisbane’s Rocking Horse from 4pm on Friday, 24Hundred in Melbourne from 11am on Saturday, and Sydney’s Utopia Records from 2pm on Sunday. On top of that, they’ll still be playing their scheduled hometown show in Byron Bay on Saturday night. How’s that for commitment?

The band reports that, while stores in Western Australia, North Queensland and Tasmania have received stock for Skydancer in time for its scheduled release, there’s a chance stores in other areas may not get the record till next week.

However, physical copies are still available to order online. Alternatively, you can try to listen to their new track Insomnia, which they’ve cleverly/maddeningly hidden inside a video game.
