In Hearts Wake Announce New Album ‘Incarnation’, A Conceptual Sequel To Their ‘Divination’ LP

Hot on the heels of announcing the bittersweet departure of their long-time bassist and clean vocalist Kyle Erich (after one final tour together), In Hearts Wake are ushering in their next era with a brand new album.

The Byron Bay metalcore heavyweights’ sixth studio LP Incarnation will arrive on Friday, 12th July and, notably for OG fans, will form a conceptual bookend to the band’s beloved debut album, Divination.

In Hearts Wake – ‘Hollow Bone (plɹoʍ ǝɥʇ)’

INCARNATION is the shadow counterpart and sequel to the band’s debut album DIVINATION, with each song inspired by the meaning and ideals of a particular Major Arcana Tarot card,” Taylor explains in a press statement. “There are 22 Major Arcana Tarot cards in every deck and 11 tracks on each record, bringing the vision to completion 12 years later.”

He continues: “But much like a coin with two sides, cards flipped upside down deliver the reversed meaning. Polarised in every way, INCARNATION explores the dark underbelly to mirror and stand diametrically opposite to DIVINATION.”

To celebrate the news, In Hearts Wake have also launched an official Incarnation Tarot-themed website that fans can visit for behind the scenes tidbits, sneak peaks at new music, exclusive info and more in the lead-up to the new album drop.

The announcement also comes punctuated with the arrival of a brand new track dubbed ‘Hollow Bone (plɹoʍ ǝɥʇ)’, which Taylor describes as In Hearts Wake’s “reclamation anthem for the band to live on” following Erich’s departure.

“Since high school we’ve given everything and we weren’t about to give up. Not yet…” he says. “Picking up the microphone as a group, together we delivered a melodic chorus for the first time. We used actual bones as percussive instruments – symbolic of death’s transformation. This track acting as our stake in the ground. What would you die for?!”

In Hearts Wake’s final tour with Kyle will take place this September, and will see the band visit fans in Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth to give the beloved muso a heartfelt send-off. You can peep all the details down below.
