Lenny Kravitz To Headline Bluesfest Opening Night

UPDATE 27/02/15: Lenny Kravitz has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour, including his headlining set at Bluesfest. Festival organisers say they are working on a replacement act. See refund options, here.

The Bluesfest 2015 lineup just got hotter with the addition of rock icon Lenny Kravitz, who will headline the festival’s opening night. The Are You Gonna Go My Way singer will be joined on stage by his full 16-piece band, for a celebration of rock, funk and soul.

Organisers have noted that Lenny Kravitz’s appearance at Bluesfest 2015 will be his only show north of Sydney, suggesting other Australian Kravitz shows are yet to be announced. Bluesfest Festival Director Peter Noble has shared his excitement about Kravitz’s addition to the Bluesfest lineup, and said that there is even more excitement to come.

“It has taken us years of negotiations and now, one of my dreams as a Festival Director, is about to come true,” Noble said. “Lenny Kravitz has the hits – the charisma – the show. He is one of the greats of the modern Rock era… We still have more incredible artists to announce yet, so keep watching out!”

Lenny Kravitz will make his Bluesfest debut as part of the world tour for his 10th studio album, Strut. His trip down under will only be his third in more than 20 years, and will see him join an impressive Bluesfest lineup which already includes the likes of The Black Keys, Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals, Ben Howard and Jurassic 5, to name a few.

Bluesfest 2015 will be held over the Easter long-weekend, from Thursday, 2nd April to Monday, 6th April 2015, in Byron Bay’s Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm. Festival details and full lineup are available below.

UPDATE 17/12/14: Bluesfest has added another 11 acts to its 2015 lineup. View the updated lineup, below.
