Listen: The Hold Steady Release Last Night’s Game Of Thrones Outro Track ‘The Bear & The Maiden Fair’

**Warning: No Spoiler Alerts, Chill***

If the choice of outro music from last nights Game Of Thrones caught you off guard, you’re not alone. The show’s creators departed from their usual atmospheric soundscapes to pump The Bear & The Maiden Fair, the latest track from The Hold Steady, which features the vocal talents of the original book series’ author George R.R. Martin.

Matching up perfectly with the insane climax of the episode, which you’ll have to see for yourself because honestly I’m still processing the whole thing, the track is a gloomy shanty that keeps in line with the natural tones of the show. It’s actually surprising how well the easily recognisable sound of The Hold Steady blends with Game Of Thrones. The track not only features Martin, but also Ramin Djawadi, the official GoT composer.

Contemporary music isn’t all that new to the program. You may remember last series when The National were synchronised with the sweeping landscapes of Westeros with the track The Rains Of Castamere which was composed specifically for the show.

You can hear the full track below. And if you haven’t see the ep yet, get on that!
