After a week of painfully teasing us, Lorde has finally given us the first single off her forthcoming second album ‘Melodrama’.
‘Green Light’ is the massive pop anthem we were waiting for, and comes complete with a hazy video clip. It’s the first new music we’ve heard from the Kiwi since 2014, as she’s been locked away working on the follow-up to her debut album Pure Heroine.
Expectations are high as that record took off, giving her a worldwide number one single in ‘Royals’.
‘Green Light’ might not be as instantly catchy as ‘Royals’, but Lorde warned us this week that it was going to be “different, and kinda unexpected”.
‘Melodrama’ is being produced by Lorde, fun.’s Jack Antonoff and Canada’s Frank Dukes, and while there’s no official release date just yet, it’s expected to be released this winter. Regardless of the lack of a release date, we’ve just got to be happy that the wheels are back in motion.
Lorde has also revealed today that she will tour Australia “sooner than people think”.
