Metallica Covering A-ha’s ‘Take On Me’ Is The Cover You Didn’t Know You Needed

Metallica and A-ha are two artists we never thought we’d mention in the same sentence but here we are.

The band surprised their Norwegian fans by covering the local band’s biggest hit ‘Take On Me’ during their show.

It seems the full band wasn’t up for it though with drummer Lars Ulrich and frontman James Hatfield leaving the stage before bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett launched into it.

“Try and guess what this is and, if you know it, sing it,” Trujillo told the crowd before recreating that iconic synth-line with guitars.

“Remember, this is fun – it’s a party!”

From there they played into their own track ‘(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth’ which was surprisingly seamless.

We’re still waiting for Metallica to bring their current tour to Australia. If we’re getting country-specific covers then maybe we’ll hear the band take on Daryl Braithwaite.
