Neutral Milk Hotel, M. Ward And Superchunk Announce Australian Tour

Former Harvest Festival draws Neutral Milk Hotel, M. Ward and Superchunk have confirmed that they will be touring together for three East Coast headline shows. Harvest promoter AJ Maddah hinted at the possibility of such a lineup earlier this week.

Fans were distraught at the new of Harvest Festival’s cancellation last month, with many purchasing airfare and making accommodation arrangements to see their favourite bands, some, like Neutral Milk Hotel, who were touring for the first time in years.

Following the announcement of the festival’s cancellation, Maddah assured fans that other arrangements would be made for fans to still see their favourite groups play. Whilst making consolation arrangements with one particular fan, Maddah revealed that a NMH-M. Ward bill was likely.

The news has now been confirmed, with indie rock legends Superchunk now added to the lineup. Starting November, the three acts will be playing Brisbane’s The Tivoli, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and The Forum in Melbourne, with tickets on sale next week.

Following on from their beloved 1998 album In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, Neutral Milk Hotel went on hiatus and committed themselves to lives lived as recluses. With their legions of fans only growing since that time, the band will be touring Australia for the first time ever.

Joining them will be Portland, Oregon singer-songwriter M. Ward, who’s quickly developed a reputation as a soulful and earnest songsmith, with a steady output under his own moniker and with She & Him. Lastly, DIY indie darlings Superchunk will rounding out the bill with an assured blitzkrieg of noise.

Tickets for this incredible line up go on sale 9am Friday, 11th October 2013, with Harvest ticket holders getting first preference. They will receive an email from OzTix containing instructions. Readers can check all dates and venues below.
