Phoenix Tease 2018 Australian Tour Plans

UPDATE: Phoenix Announce 2018 Australian Headline Tour Dates

ORIGINAL STORY: Phoenix are set to release their sixth studio album Ti Amo next month, and now the French rockers have pretty much locked in a return to Australia in 2018.

Following the release of two lead singles from the record — ‘J-Boy‘ and title track ‘Ti Amo‘ — Phoenix vocalist Thomas Mars has revealed that the band has plans to bring the new record to Australia.

“It’s always a treat to play there,” Mars told Music Feeds when asked about the band’s relationship with Australia, before outlining plans to return down under “early next year”.

“It’s a long time [away], but the good thing is we’ll be ready,” he said. “It takes a while, because we’ve got an idea about how the new songs should be live, and it will come with a whole new set and a whole new stage design.”

Based on the first two singles from Ti Amo, the album is set to have a shimmering, dancey vibe, and Mars is looking forward to getting on the road in a few short months.

“It’s our favourite thing, because that’s when you see the new songs come to life,” he said. “That’s when you see the impact on people, and when you realise what you’ve done and how it’s an extension  of the album.

“Whenever we play the new songs, the old songs have a different glow and they chance a little bit. They have the personality of the new songs, and the old personality fades, and it feels like everything changes with a new tour.”

Phoenix are set to play Sunny Side Up Festival in Bali this August, and are also about to embark on a tour of North America.

Ti Amo is out on 9th June.

Stay tuned for Music Feeds‘ full interview with Thomas Mars, coming soon.
